Tool

Will it fit? The golf simulator room checker

Your ceiling, width and depth against the space each launch monitor and enclosure needs.

Bay Fit is paid through affiliate links: if you buy through a link to Shop Indoor Golf or Rain or Shine Golf, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never decides a ranking. How we choose.

Enter the inside dimensions of the room, where you plan the tee, and who will play. The tool applies the room rules of Shop Indoor Golf's space guide and the figures each retailer publishes for each launch monitor, then lists the units that fit, the ones that depend on a detail, and the ones that do not, with the reason.

Measure your swing in 5 minutes

No store we read publishes a formula that turns your height into a ceiling height, and we will not invent one. Measure instead:

  1. Stand where the tee will be, in the shoes you play in, on the mat if you already have it.
  2. Take your longest club, usually the driver, and make three slow full swings. A helper watches the highest point the clubhead reaches, at the top of the backswing and in the follow-through.
  3. Stop at that highest point and hold the club still. The helper measures from the floor to the top of the clubhead with a tape.
  4. Keep the highest of the three readings, in inches, and enter it above. Do the same for every player in the house.
  5. Look up as well: light fittings, beams, ducts and garage door tracks count as ceiling.

A slow swing is not a full-speed swing: the tool shows your clearance, and Shop Indoor Golf's own warning applies, an 8-foot ceiling "often requires golfers to curtail their backswing or refrain from using longer clubs like woods and drivers".

The rules the tool uses

Every figure, unit by unit: room size and ceiling height.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the tool ask where the tee will be?

Because the depth a launch monitor needs is the space behind the ball plus the distance to the screen. Shop Indoor Golf recommends the tee about 10 to 12 feet from the screen and 7 feet behind the tee; radar units that sit behind you need their own published distance instead of the 7 feet.

Why do some monitors say "fit depends on a detail"?

Either the store does not publish a figure we need (for example the mounting height of the Uneekor EYE XO), or your room works only in one layout, such as the tee 8 feet from the screen for the FlightScope Mevo Gen2.

Can the tool tell if I will hit the ceiling?

Only if you measure your swing. Follow the protocol below and enter the highest point your club reaches. We do not use a formula based on your height: no store we read publishes one.
